Never Underestimate a Seed Sown
By Griffin Rain
Recently, I met a man while I was evangelizing on the city bus who shared a story with me about how he was considering taking his life earlier in life and was playing Russian roulette with one bullet in a revolver. As he put the gun to his head, in the corner of his eye he saw a picture of Jesus. He was reminded of one of the only times that he went to church as a child, they preached on Jesus in the desert and how you shall not put the Lord your God to the test. He realized he was putting God to the test. He took the gun away from his head and shot at the wall right in front of him and out came the bullet that would have ended his life. This was from a seed that was planted many years prior and he was not practicing the faith at this time. We must never underestimate the power of one seed sown. It may take years, but a person may remember one thing that you shared about God at the time that they most needed it.
Keep scattering seeds wherever you go. Some may be "wasted" but this is the generosity of God. He is infinitely good and will keep reaching out to us in love. He keeps scattering seed everywhere and so should we!
We then continued to have conversation and he shared about how he has been trying to practice the faith while oftentimes falling short. I encouraged him to persevere in God's love and then we went our separate ways as the bus got to his stop.
This encounter also brought to mind for me how our lady is praying for us now and at the hour of our death. She was looking out for him at this moment that could have been his hour of death.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

About the Missionaries of the Real Presence
The Missionaries of the Real Presence aims to assist in the apostolic renewal of the church by intentionally discipling men living in community and encouraging missionary vocations in the church. We participate in Christ’s evangelizing work for the salvation of souls especially seeking out those who have been spiritually neglected. We introduce people to Jesus through intentional conversation, preaching, teaching, and prayer. We engage in direct evangelization in the public forum on the city streets, on public transit, in homes and share the good news of Christ with those we meet. All of this flows from a life of prayer and union with Jesus as our source.
